Chefs in Schools is a charity run by chefs, caterers and food experts, dedicated to helping schools, local authorities and multi-academy trusts deliver high-quality school food and effective food education to children.
We believe every child should have access to real, delicious, and nourishing food in school. That’s why we work directly with catering teams to develop their skills, to support their knowledge to embed a culture of excellence in school kitchens across the county.
Our training is designed to complement the development you already provide, giving chefs the chance to grow their skills, connect with peers and take pride in the vital role they play. The result is a stronger sense of workforce pride, improved morale, and better staff retention.
Our team’s experience spans both commercial and school kitchens, including private and local authority catering providers. This expertise shapes practical, evidence-based interventions across diverse settings.

“Their [Chefs in Schools] approach to training was particularly impactful for individuals who might not typically step outside their comfort zones. The nurturing environment they created enabled candidates to grow in confidence and capability. Feedback from both cohorts highlighted the delivery of the syllabus as highly personalised—almost like one-to-one coaching—which empowered participants to build on their strengths and overcome personal challenges.“
