The Challenge
The school where Chefs in Schools was born. Nicole Pisani started as the Head Chef there in 2014 and transformed the way school food was done. We took what Nicole did and turned it into an idea for a charity: ches turning bland, beige and boring food into mind-fuelling, generation-powering school food.
Our Support
Nicole brought what she had learnt from her time as head chef at Ottolenghi’s legendary NOPI restaurant, and working with the existing team applied it to a school kitchen setting. She empowered the team to cook what they knew, dishes from all over the world and went into classrooms imparting food education to the students.
The Result
The result was not only a school food culture transformed, but a brand new spanking charity called Chefs in Schools too. Henry Dimbleby, Nicole, and Louise Nichols (the Executive Headteacher of LEAP federation) had watch the transformative model take hold and wondered if it could be replicated elsewhere…spoiler: it could.
