We celebrate success of first-ever snack time takeover at Launceston College.

In an exciting initiative and a first for our charity, we recently partnered with Launceston College, for the inaugural “Snack Time Takeover” to test a new concept of nutritious and vegetarian snacks at break time.

The innovative menu featured a variety of mouth-watering items, including cauliflower wings with jalapeño dip, baked pea & feta fritters, veggie sausage rolls with spiced pineapple ketchup, and noodle boxes. All offered at just £1.

This event marked the first collaboration between Chefs in Schools and Launceston College, aimed at showcasing the type of healthy and delicious food options that we advocate for in schools. The result? A resounding success, with the college recording its highest-ever food sales during the break period.

Nicole Pisani, Co-Founder and Chief Innovation Officer at Chefs in Schools, expressed her delight at the success of the event. “The Snack Time Takeover was a roaring success! It proves that school food can be exciting, colourful, and full of flavour. The response has been fantastic, and we’re thrilled to see how trials like this can make a difference.”

The students played an active role in the event by participating in a focus group, providing valuable feedback that will help refine future snack options. A big thank you to Riverford who helped support the day.

We’re looking forward to 2025 to build on this momentum with future ‘Snack Time Takeovers’ – who knows where we’ll pop up next?
