School Chefs Get Professional Training Boost in Essex

Essex will soon become the latest region to benefit from a culinary upgrade with a new chef-led training programme launching in January.

Essex schools will now have access to the School Chef Educator Programme, run by Chefs in Schools, which will teach catering teams to cook fresh, nutritious meals from scratch through hands-on sessions covering everything from menu planning to reducing food waste.

The course is fully funded and comes as parents pile pressure on the government to improve school meals. Recent research found 80% want mandatory nutrition training for school chefs*.

“Essex represents an exciting new chapter for us. We’ve seen the transformative impact this training has had in other regions, and we know there’s a huge appetite here to elevate school food.” – Sam Phillips, Director of Programmes, Chefs in Schools

The programme has already helped over 100,000 children access better school food across England, and now in Essex the programme will help even more.

School chefs, catering managers and kitchen assistants can sign up now here with limited places available.
