The Background

London Academy wanted to improve the quality, variety, and healthiness of school meals, while also engaging students, staff, and families. Previously, the head chef managed most responsibilities alone, and meals relied partly on frozen options.

Our Support

Chefs in Schools partnered with the academy to provide expertise, guidance, and practical support. They worked closely with the kitchen team, leadership, and students to enhance menus, introduce healthy sides, improve break options, and create a collaborative dining environment.

The Result

The kitchen team is highly engaged, students eat more balanced meals, and staff and parents notice a positive difference. Food quality has increased, waste decreased, uptake of meals rose, and the canteen’s financial performance improved. Healthy eating, family-style dining, and food education initiatives are now embedded, with strong plans for sustainable growth.
